The $60,000 Prince Resorts/TaylorMade Hawai'i State Open will be Nov. 21 to 23 at Hawai'i Prince Golf Club. First prize is $7,500. The Nov. 20 Pro-Am will benefit the Hawai'i State Junior Golf Association and Aloha Section PGA Foundation.

David Ishii, Steve Veriato, Scott Simpson, Dick McClean, Lance Suzuki, Kevin Hayashi and Tom Eubank are all multiple State Open champions. Rainbow Wahine coach Lori Castillo won five State Open women's titles and Christel Tomori three. Punahou sophomore Cyd Okino has won the last two, which gives her one more than Michelle Wie, who won in 2002. Lahaina's Dean Prince has dominated the seniors, winning seven times since the flight started in 1996.

PGA Tour player and Castle High graduate Dean Wilson won last year's men's title and donated his winnings to junior golf. Wilson finished a shot ahead of pros Joe Phengsavath and John Lynch, and three ahead of Punahou junior Bradley Shigezawa, who played in the final group and was low amateur.

The Open began in 1974 as a revival of the original Hawaiian Open, which started in the 1920s and became a tour event in 1965.
