One of the best options for breakfast eats on Saturday morning is the extravaganza at the Saturday Farmers Market at Kapi'olani Community College. You'll find formidable culinary offerings and delectable items at this event, which runs from 7:30 to 11 a.m. in the school's lower parking lot.

The dining odyssey begins with a walk through the bustle, as locals and tourists navigate the vendor booths in search of Hawai'i's homegrown bounty. The breakfast choices are too numerous to have it all, so you'll have to strategize and plan how to pace yourself.

One of our favorite choices is Hawaiian Style Chili Co.'s garlic shrimp scampi over rice. This plate reminds us what's offered at shrimp trucks on the North Shore, but oh-so-much closer and a bit more gourmet. At $7, it's a bargain for the quality of shrimp that's served.
