Kumu hula Sonny Ching is best known for his creativity in the art of hula, culminating in multiple wins at the Merrie Monarch Festival. Now he has adopted a new art form — jewelry design.

In collaboration with Linda and Akemi Ueda, the mother-daughter design team behind Paradisus jewelry, Ching has created a line of sterling-silver jewelry inspired by Hawaiian tattoos and 'ohe kapala (bamboo stamps). The line is for both men and women, offering bracelets and necklaces as well as cuff links. Hawaiian-inspired cuff links just may be a fashion first.

Ching will introduce his line from 4 to 6 p.m. tomorrow at Nohea Gallery in Ward Warehouse; 596-0074.

ON OUR RADAR: HAUTE CHOCOLAT NAIL POLISH

Haute Chocolat, a shimmery chocolate nail lacquer with flecks of gold, was created by Amy Gonzo, 19, of Port Washington, Wis., who was inspired by memories of her favorite holiday drink — hot chocolate. We think this Chanel color will be huge this holiday season. It pairs perfectly with gold makeup, the season's hottest trend.

Gonzo won the Chanel Colour of the Year Contest co-sponsored by Seventeen magazine. The shade was launched in the United States this month as part of the Chanel Holiday 2008 makeup collection. Find it at Macy's, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and the Chanel boutiques ($20).

NOW OPEN: ADORACION

Brandy Antonelis and Cheryl DeAngelo are sisters, and now co-owners of Adoracion, a boutique upstairs in Manoa Marketplace. They have branded the boutique as "clothing and accessories for the fashion-forward family."

It's a bit unusual for keiki clothing to be edgy, but Adoracion has it going. The owners each have a toddler in tow and they want their keiki to be as stylish as their moms. Lines such as Ed Hardy Kids, Knuckleheads, Hula Mula, Shelly Bryaliss and Meg Dana offer alternative looks. In addition, the boutique offers women's lines such as Whish, Interlud, Mucha-cha, Chili Pepper, Silver Jeans and Ingwa Melero. Men's lines include the Jimi Hendrix Collection, Fender, Citron and Katin. Jewelry and accessories are by Double Happiness, Sogoli, Dee Designs, Shih Bags by Stefanie Lin and Hyde belts. Prices range from $5 to $500.

Adoracion is offering private boutique parties where friends can shop together while sipping cocktails and noshing on pupu by chef Fred DeAngelo, who happens to be Cheryl's husband.

Adoracion is a member of 1% for the Planet, and uses 100 percent post-consumer recyclable waste material for its bags, tags, ribbon, tissue and boxes. Information: 988-7232.

BLACK AND WHITE AND CHIC ALL OVER

The black and white palette of Club Monaco's urban clothing for men and women has inspired a monthly series of events celebrating fashion and photography.

The events will take place on the last Thursday of the month and will feature the work (black and white, of course) of a local photographer. The in-store events will be hosted by stylist Blaine Ashley and the online magazine Lei Chic.

From 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, the event will feature complimentary styling with Ashley, photography by Eric Wehner, music by DJ Rayne, desserts by Hokulani Bakery and cocktails by Three Olives. All purchases will be reduced 15 percent during the event.

Club Monaco invites attendees to create their best black and white Club Monaco look to win a $250 shopping spree. RSVP@clubmonaco.com.

HONOLUA SURF CO. AT ROYAL HAWAIIAN

Honolua Surf Co. has opened a store in the Royal Hawaiian Center, and it's unlike traditional Honolua stores. Fashioned as an accessories-only boutique, it offers jewelry, rash guards, foldout chairs, iPod accessories, backpacks, hats, sunglasses and bodyboards.

To encourage local folks to check out the beautifully refurbished center, through the end of November, center shoppers can have four free hours of parking with restaurant and Pa'ina Lanai (food court) validations. No minimum purchase is required for validation.

The store is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; 923-3310, www.honoluasurf.com.
