KA'A'AWA
Information meeting on Makaua Stream project

A two-hour public informational meeting on the Makaua Stream restoration and debris removal project will be held Wednesday at the Ka'a'awa Elementary School cafeteria.

Makaua Stream was one of the Windward O'ahu streams heavily damaged by a March 2006 storm. The meeting at 51-296 Kamehameha Highway starts at 6:30 p.m.

State Department of Land and Natural Resources officials and the low-bid contractor will be available to discuss the construction schedule and answer questions. Federal funds will finance 75 percent of the construction, with the state funding the remainder.

Construction is scheduled to begin next month.
