Wailua playground will close for 2 days for cleanup project

Advertiser Staff

The Friends of Kamalani & Lydgate Park will be doing a National Make a Difference Day beautification and cleanup project on Kaua'i that will result in the closure of Kamalani Playground in Wailua today and tomorrow.

A county crew will be clearing the area tomorrow in preparation for tomorrow's community project, which starts at 7:30 a.m.

Volunteers plan to spread wood fiber chips at the playground and will plant shade trees at nearby Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Sports Park.

Anyone wishing to help should bring shovels, rakes, retractable utility knives, wheelbarrows and garden carts, as well as their own water bottles. Gloves and closed-toe shoes should be worn.

For more information, call the Department of Parks and Recreation at 241-4460 or The Friends of Kamalani & Lydgate Park at 245-5959.
