PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Mike Dougherty passed for 285 yards and two touchdowns, both to Bobby Sewall, as Brown beat Cornell, 27-7, today.

Dougherty completed 20-of-37 passes as Brown (4-2, 3-0, Ivy League) began a season by winning their first three league games for the first time in school history.

Sewall finished the day with 11 catches for 181 yards.

Cornell scored their only points in the first quarter as Ford hit Baker with a 16-yard touchdown pass.

Brown answered with a 21-yard field goal by Rob Ranney after a drive that began when Brown cornerback Russell Leedy sacked Ford on fourth-and-1 from Brown's 17 early in the second quarter.

Dougherty's 52-yard touchdown pass to Sewall later in the quarter put Brown ahead for good, 10-7.

Ranney added a 22-yard field goal to give Brown a 13-7 halftime lead.

A 2-yard run by flanker Buddy Farnham gave Brown a 20-7 lead in the fourth quarter. Brown iced the game on a 32-yard touchdown pass from Dougherty to Sewall with 9:06 left.
