Man arrested for investigation of attempted murder of a police officer

Advertiser Staff

A 27-year-old man has been arrested for investigation of attempted murder of a police officer and forgery charges, police said.

The arrest on Friday stemmed from an incident that happened at 7:21 p.m. Tuesday. Then, the police officer, who was responding to an Ala Moana business to investigate a forgery in progress, was struck repeatedly by a car. It is not known how badly the officer was injured.

Upon arriving at the store, the witness pointed out the suspect to police, but when police approached the suspect, he fled to a car. When the officer approached the car, the man allegedly struck the officer several times.

Later that evening, police located the man's car a short distance away and saw the man running away. Police arrested him on charges of attempted murder in the first degree and forgery in the second degree, police said.
