NFL injury report: Cowboys TE Witten leaves game with rib injury

Associated Press

Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten left Sunday's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a rib injury.

When Witten was hurt at the end of the first quarter, it was announced that he had bruised ribs. But the four-time Pro Bowler said after the game that he planned to get some tests to "find out what it is. I don't know."

"I took a shot. It doesn't feel good right now, obviously," Witten said after the 13-9 victory. "I'm hoping for the best and hopefully get back to it next week."

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said cornerback Anthony Henry, who left in the third quarter with a bruised thigh, would be doubtful for next week's road game against the rival New York Giants.

The only notable injury for the Buccaneers was safety Jermaine Phillips, who hurt his arm.

"I'm worried about him," coach Jon Gruden said, without elaborating about the type or extent of Phillips' injury.

Seattle Pro Bowl linebacker Lofa Tatupu left the Seahawks' win over the San Francisco 49ers in the first half with a groin injury and did not return. Tatupu got knocked out of last week's game against Tampa Bay with a concussion but was able to play this week.

Seattle defensive end Patrick Kerney hurt his left shoulder.

San Francisco lost tight end Delanie Walker, wide receiver Arnaz Battle, right tackle Barry Sims and kick returner Allen Rossum to injuries. Sims was on crutches with a walking boot on his left foot, while Walker thought his injured elbow would be fine.

Jacksonville Jaguars guard Chris Naeole, expected to play for the first time since injuring his quadriceps last season, injured his right hand during pregame warmups and was pulled from the starting lineup.

Other injuries Sunday included Bills WR Josh Reed (strained Achilles' tendon), Raiders FB Justin Griffith, Ravens special teams ace Brendon Ayanbadejo (ankle), Jets TE Chris Baker (hip), LB David Harris and FB Tony Richardson, Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles (sprained ankle) and CB Patrick Surtain (quadriceps) and Patriots CB Ellis Hobbs (shoulder).
