St. Francis plans November events

St. Francis Hospice kicks off National Hospice/Palliative Care Month in November with an interdenominational memorial service and the Hawaii premiere of a documentary film about grief.

The events are:

• The 22nd annual interdenominational memorial service, "A Rose for Remembrance," 7 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Co-Cathedral of St. Theresa, 712 No. School Street for family and friends of patients who were served on the St. Francis Hospice program. Attendees will have the opportunity to honor their loved one by a dedicating a rose in their memory.

• Free screening of "The Gifts of Grief" at .2 p.m. Nov. 16, Spalding Auditorium, University of Hawaii at Manoa campus; produced and directed by Nancee Sobonya, who will lead a discussion after the film. A short film, "Grieving Hearts from Hawaii," by a former St. Francis Hospice intern and a Korean dance are also part of the program.
