Hawaii trips a little less excellent

The number of tourists who rated their vacation to Hawai'i as "excellent" declined in three out of five markets in the fourth quarter of 2007 from the same period a year earlier, according to a state report.

Among Canadians, 58.5 percent of visitors rated their vacation as excellent, down from 69.8 percent a year earlier, according to the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism.

The number of visitors from the western U.S. who rated their vacations as excellent fell to 59.9 percent from 66.7 percent. For the eastern U.S., the number fell to 68.3 percent from 70.6 percent.

The number of Japanese visitors who rated their vacation as excellent rose to 50.4 percent from 50.3 percent a year earlier. For Europeans, the number rose to 64.6 percent from 64.0 percent a year earlier.
