Weather: Trade winds due back by tomorrow

It looks like the vog and the accompanying high humidity will be around for one more day, based on a forecast issued by the National Weather Service.

Trade winds are expected to return tomorrow when a high pressure area northwest of the islands pushes eastward behind a weakening front, forecasters said.

Until then, the winds will be light, allowing local land and sea breezes to develop.

Showers will favor mauka areas this afternoon and evening. Dense high clouds will linger into Wednesday.

After trade winds return Wednesday, clouds and showers will favor windward and mauka areas.

Here's a closer look at the next few days:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 84. East wind between 11 and 15 mph.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Wednesday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind between 14 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Wednesday night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Thursday: Scattered showers, mainly before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Thursday night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
