High surf advisory issued for north-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory for north-facing shores of O'ahu beginning at 6 a.m. today and lasting through 6 a.m. Thursday.

Surf is expected to rise to heights of 7 to 10 feet this morning and continue building to 10 to 15 feet by later this afternoon.

Elsewhere, surf along west-facing shores will rise to 4 to 6 feet this morning and continue to grow to 5 to 8 feet by this afternoon; east-facing shores will see 4 to 6 feet by this afternoon; and south-facing shores will have surf of 2 to 4 feet through today.

Outlook through Sunday, Nov. 2: The new, short-period north-northwest swell will continue to build Tuesday night into Wednesday as it swings around to a north-northeasterly direction.

The swell will slowly lower Thursday into Friday.

A smaller, short-period north swell is expected to arrive by late Friday and linger through the weekend.

There will also be a series of small southerly swells though the forecast period.
