Kauai flash-flood warning canceled

Advertiser Staff

The National Weather Service canceled a flash-flood warning for Kaua'i tonight at 6.

Kaua'i County Civil Defense administrator Mark Marshall said rainfall has diminished and there were no major problems.

"It looks good," Marshall said shortly before 6 p.m., "but we expect this will be a common occurrence through April. It's the beginning of the rainy season."

Marshall said there was a small landslide on Kaua'i's north shore at 4 p.m. that forced the closure of one lane of Kuhio Highway near Lumahai Beach but said landslides occurs frequently in the area during rainy conditions.

One Waialua home experienced flooding in a carport due to runoff from a stream and Kamalu Bridge near Wailua Homesteads Park was closed periodically due water on the roadway. Those were the most serious problems today, he said.
