PEARL HARBOR
USS Peleliu strike group winding up stay in Isles

The USS Peleliu Expeditionary Strike Group is winding up a few days stay in Pearl Harbor after a six-month deployment that included exercises with Jordan and Kuwait, officials said.

Six ships in the strike group were in Hawai'i with about 4,500 sailors and Marines. All but the Peleliu, an amphibious assault ship, left yesterday.

The strike group operated for part of the time in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea, conducting the exercises Eager Mace with Kuwait and Infinite Moonlight with Jordan, an official said.

The Peleliu will be heading home to San Diego in the next couple of days, the Navy said.
