Daylight saving time ends Sunday

Associated Press

WASHINGTON — Standard time returns this weekend, so most folks on the Mainland will be setting their clocks back an hour on Saturday night.

But residents of Hawai'i, Arizona, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands won't get that extra hour of sleep ... or extra hour of work, in the case of those on overnight shifts.

It also means some Mainlanders will forget to change their clocks, and will show up an hour early for church or other events on Sunday.

The advantages for Hawai'i residents in making no change this time of year are a little extra sunshine in the evenings and a little more time to make those late-night phone calls to friends and family on the Mainland.
