An 18-year-old man waived by Family Court today was arrested and later charged in connection with the Aug. 11 Aliamanu home invasion robbery and shooting that left a man paralyzed.

Kerry Khamsouk was charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, three counts of kidnapping, six counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and one count of first-degree burglary. Eleven of the 12 counts are class-A felonies. He is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail pending an initial appearance tomorrow at District Court.

Nineteen-year-old Kevin Khamsouk, also known as "Rambo," was indicted Sept. 3 on the same 12 counts. His bail was set at $250,000. Kevin and Kerry Khamsouk are brothers.

Charges are pending against at least three others, including two juveniles who are in custody at the Hawai'i Youth Correctional Facility.

The Khamsouk brothers allegedly were among a group of five males who broke into a Hulaku'i Drive home and confronted two women and a man at gunpoint.

One of the victims — Timothy Lapitan, 19 at the time — was shot in the abdomen when he tried to push one of the intruders out of the home, according to police. The injury has left Lapitan paralyzed.

If convicted, the Khamsouk brothers could face up to 20 years in prison for each of the class-A felonies.
