More than 100 soldiers with the 8th Military Police Brigade received a sendoff today at Schofield Barracks as they prepare to deploy to Iraq.

The brigade will be based in Baghdad and will partner with Iraqi police who are training and assisting the security forces throughout central Iraq.

While units in the brigade have deployed previously, this is the first time the 8th MP Brigade headquarters has deployed to Iraq, officials said.

The unit was established to provide security in South Korea, but was moved to Hawai'i in 2006.
