NBA: Warriors exercise contract options on Belinelli, Wright

The Associated Press

OAKLAND, Calif. — The Golden State Warriors exercised their contract options for the 2009-10 season on guard Marco Belinelli and forward Brandan Wright on Friday, but declined their option on guard Marcus Williams.

The Warriors acquired Belinelli and Wright on the day of the 2007 draft, choosing Belinelli with the 18th overall pick and acquiring Wright, the eighth overall pick, in a trade with Charlotte for Jason Richardson. Both played sparingly for Golden State as rookies last season.

Williams, the 22nd pick in the 2006 draft, was acquired from New Jersey in an offseason trade. The Warriors hoped Williams would win the job as their starting point guard, but the UConn product was beaten out by undrafted rookie DeMarcus Nelson in training camp.
