The Mamiya Theatre will be alive with “The Sound of Music” as the Sacred Hearts Academy presents the Broadway and film evergreen. The show also includes performers from Saint Louis School and other public and private schools. Hawaiçi Pacific University opens its 2008-09 theater season with “Rabbit Hole,” winner of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for drama. The play focuses on a couple, Becca and Howie, trying to cope with a terrible loss while Becca’s family attempts to lift their spirits and bring the couple closer.

FESTIVAL: NOV. 7-15

GiRL FeST, the arts, performance and film celebration, is in its fifth year. Among the activities:
• Opening Night, 8 p.m. Nov. 7, Cupola Theatre, Honolulu Design Center. $10-$20 general, $7 students and seniors; for those 21 and older. Performers include Jennifer Johns, right, Living Armada, Issil Park and Red Summer. And there’s a play, “My Real Name,” by Carol Chehade.
• Actress/poet Amber Tamblyn and performance poet Mindy Nettifee present “Crying at the Aquarium,” 8 p.m. Nov. 8, Cupola Theatre. $7-$20 general, $5 students and seniors.

California’s Damage Inc. is set to rock the island with a Metallica tribute concert. Damage Inc.’s lineup consists of Aaron Pearson, Stephen Goodwin, KK and Larry Howe. Black Prizm will open, introducing the release of its debut album, “The Beast.”

Isle favorite Ten Feet, below, which recently released its third album, “Everyday,” is gearing up to celebrate with an Island Music Festival & CD Release Party. Tickets are on sale for a concert showcasing The Las Vegas Tenors, above, three vocalists who regularly sell out gigs in Sin City with their “popera,” combining opera and pops tunes. The trio is composed of, from left, Bobby Black (pop rock, classics and opera); Bill Fayne (opera and Broadway); and Teddy Davey (theater, pop, classical Italian songs) An eight-piece orchestra will accompany the singers. A portion of the proceeds will go the the family services nonprofit HUGS.

Hawaiçi Theatre gets funny with physical comedian Dan Kamin in “Comedy in Motion.” Kamin, who created the physical comedy sequences in the films “Chaplin” for Robert Downey Jr. and “Benny and Joon” for Johnny Depp, presents movement illusions, sleight-of-hand and more.
