KAPOLEI
National traveling food exhibit coming to library

"Key Ingredients: America by Food," a national traveling exhibit developed by Museum on Main Street and the Smithsonian Institution, makes it way to Kapolei Public Library from tomorrow to Oct. 18.

Co-sponsored locally by the Hawaii Council for the Humanities and the Friends of Kapolei Public Library, the exhibit explores the connections between Americans and the foods they produce, prepare, preserve and present at the table.

A number of food-related discussions will take place at the library in conjunction with the exhibit.

Students from Kapolei High School will share what they have learned as part of the school's culinary arts program and instructor Cyndy Pratt at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 6.

Terry Phillips, marketing and public relations director for Aloun Farms, will share tips on how to buy Hawai'i produce and also offer recipes using produce grown at the nearby farms at 7 p.m. Sept. 9.

Honolulu Advertiser columnist and author Lee Cataluna will read selections from her works from 10:30 a.m. Sept. 13.
