TONIGHT'S MUST-SEES

"Bones" season opener, 7-9 p.m., Fox. In London, the show's two heroes meet their counterparts. Brennan is drawn to a handsome forensics professor; Booth to an attractive detective. Then two murders (one per hour) complicate things. There's also trouble at the lab. Angela's long-lost husband arrives, reluctant to divorce. There are moments of terrific humor, alongside a pair of solid mysteries.

"Sons of Anarchy" debut, 7 p.m., FX; repeats at 8:15. Here's a high-octane blend of beatings, bombings and shootings, with bursts of family love. Katey Sagal plays the toughest matriarch since Lady Macbeth. Widowed from one motorcycle-gang leader, she married the other (Ron Perlman). Her son is the future leader, but he brings doubts and a hint of decency. Amid the carnage, a powerful character drama seems to be developing.

OF NOTE

Republican convention, 4 p.m. ABC, CBS and NBC join the coverage to catch the vice-presidential acceptance speech. Others arrived earlier — CNN and C-SPAN at noon.

"America's Got Talent," 7-9 p.m., NBC. The four-night round concludes. Ten people perform and viewers vote.

"America's Next Top Model" season opener, 7-9 p.m., CW (Oceanic Digital 93). There's a lot of silliness here, but contestants are fascinating. There are bold, brassy sorts; one announces that she'll be the winner, another shows martial-arts moves. There are shy types, including one from Alaska and another, with pixie-like charm, from France. Most fascinating is Isis, transgender and pre-operative. Technically, Isis is still a male, competing to be a champion female model.

"Top Design" season opener, 7 p.m., Bravo. The 13 contestants are split into teams and given two days to transform lofts on a budget. There are spectacular successes and failures in an interesting hour.
