Blowhole reopens to public after 5 months

The Halona Blowhole viewing area and parking lot reopened yesterday following a five-month renovation.

The $824,000 project included demolition of the lower platform, reconstruction of the upper visitor viewing platform, added access for the disabled from the parking lot to the upper viewing area, and reconfiguration of the parking lot to improve pedestrian and driver safety. The number of stalls in the lot remains the same.

The project started in April, the city said in a news release.
