Tonight marks the second installment of First Fashion Friday at Aloha Tower Marketplace. At 6 tonight in the Center Atrium, a panel of local fashion folks will address the ever-confusing issue of "Transitions," how to take your wardrobe from day to evening. A makeup artist also will offer tips to make makeup work from the office to a dinner date.

The event is a collaboration between Aloha Tower Marketplace and the Hawaii Fashion Incubator. Information: 566-2337, info@alohatower.com.

REYN'S OFFERS NEW TEAM SPIRIT SHIRTS

Reyn's is celebrating back to school by introducing four new collegiate shirts. UH fans can wear their hearts on their sleeves with two UH tapa prints, one with a palm tree, the other featuring the UH logo in a reverse print with a green or black background. The palm tree print is made of Spooner Kloth, a cotton-polyester blend, and comes in a pullover or button-down style.

The UH logo shirt is made of Reyn-lon, a 100 percent rayon fabric, and features pennant flags proclaiming UH the conference champions. It's available only in a button-front style.

There also are two designs for University of Southern California fans: the Team Trojan design and the Trojan scenic design, both available only in a button-front style.

The shirts are sold at select Reyn's stores and online at www.reyns.com. Information: 737-8313 or 949-5929.

QUILTS: A CONTEMPORARY CELEBRATION

A new exhibition of quilts at the Mission Houses Museum celebrates two events: the 25th anniversary of the Hawaii Quilt Guild and the arrival of the Textile Society of America's 11th Biennial Symposium in Honolulu. The opening reception will be held from noon to 2 p.m. today in the Lane Gallery at Honolulu Hale.

The free exhibition will be on view from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays through Oct. 2.

THE BEAUTY EVENT IS ON

Learn how to put your best fall face forward during the Neiman Marcus Beauty Event, running today through Sept. 14. At the cosmetics counters, makeup artists will offer mini-makeovers in the newest colors of the season, as well as information on the latest skin treatments and how to layer fragrances. Those who purchase $100 or more in cosmetics and fragrances will receive a crocodile-embossed tote containing nine samples from companies such as Prada, Laura Mercier, Frédéric Fekkai and Molton Brown.

While in Neiman Marcus, stop by Contemporary Sportswear for a trunk show of New York designer Tory Burch's apparel, shoes and handbags. There will be informal modeling from noon to 3 p.m. today and tomorrow.
