KEALAKEKUA
Man convicted of 7 sex assaults against children

A Kona jury yesterday convicted Kohala resident Walter See Kong Ah Sing of seven felony sexual assault counts that involved four children.

Prosecutor Jay Kimura said in a written statement that the children who were assaulted ranged in age from 4 to 11 at the times they were abused. Two of the four reported the abuse as children, and two made reports as adults years after the assaults occurred.

Kimura praised the witnesses, who are now between the ages of 9 and 27, for testifying during the six-week trial. Ah Sing was described as a "trusted minister and hanai uncle" of the victims.

Ah Sing faces prison terms of up to 20 years each for his three first-degree sexual assault convictions; prison terms of up to five years each for his four convictions for third-degree sexual assault; and up to a year in jail for a single misdemeanor fourth-degree sexual assault conviction.
