Police officer receives minor injuries in Waikiki collision

Advertiser Staff

A police officer sustained minor injuries when his marked police car was broadsided by another vehicle in Waikiki tonight, said police Maj. Alan Bluemke.

The 28-year-old officer, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital where he was treated for his injuries. He was listed in good condition, Bluemke said. The police officer has been working for the Honolulu Police Department for 3 1/2 years.

The officer was traveling eastbound on Kuhio Avenue near Paoakalani Avenue responding to a call about a fight around 7:45 p.m. when the vehicle with two Japanese nationals attempted to make a left turn into a driveway, Bluemke said. The occupants of the other vehicle were not injured, Bluemke said.
