Chaminade sweeps two

Trina Kauliakamoa had a total of 33 kills as the Chaminade women's volleyball team swept St. Martin's and St. Mary's yesterday in the Central Washington Invitational at Ellensburg, Wash.

Kauliakamoa garnered 17 kills and 11 digs, and Courtney Lorusso added 11 kills as Chaminade (3-5) beat St. Martin's (2-4), 25-10, 25-18, 25-23.

Earlier in the day, Kauliakamoa had 16 kills and nine digs as Chaminade beat St. Mary's (3-4), 25-17, 25-23, 25-22.

Elsewhere in Hawai'i Division II volleyball:

  • Kayla Roof had 10 kills and 13 digs as Central Washington (7-1) beat Hawai'i Pacific, 25-16, 25-23, 26-24, in the Central Washington Invitational at Ellensburg, Wash. Julia Gruszecka had 10 kills and Tricia Yoshimura added 17 digs for HPU (1-7). Earlier, Cammy Dranginis had 16 kills as Northwest Nazarene (5-2) beat HPU, 25-18, 25-17, 25-22. Aimee Tresierra had 12 kills for HPU.

  • Josimara Pinheiro had 13 kills, and Kawena Cubi-Otineru and Kaniu Hernandez each added eight as Hawai'i-Hilo (5-2) beat Regis (4-4), 25-16, 25-21, 25-21, in the Metropolitan State Invitational at Denver. Earlier, Pinheiro had 14 kills, and Fabiane Seben added 11 kills and six block assists as Hilo beat Metro State (2-4), 25-20, 25-12 and 25-21.

  • Jessica Granados had 17 kills as No. 1-ranked Cal State-San Bernardino (6-0) beat Brigham Young-Hawai'i, 25-13, 20-25, 25-17, 25-10, in the Triton Invitational at La Jolla, Calif. Losaline Faka'osi had 10 kills and Melanie Manutai 10 digs for BYUH (3-5).

    HPU SWEEPS

    Brigham Young-Hawai'i's Amanda Whitford won the women's race, Hawai'i Pacific's Andreas Schwab took the men's division and HPU swept the team titles yesterday at the Chaminade Invitational in La'ie.

    Whitford finished the 5-kilometer race in 18 minutes, 38 seconds. Schwab clocked 25:40 over the 8K course.
