Six injured in Hana Highway collision on Maui

Advertiser Staff

Six people were injured, including one critically, in a two-vehicle collision yesterday on Maui's Hana Highway near the Twin Falls in Haiku.

The collision, involving a Jeep Wrangler and Nissan Pathfinder, occurred at 4:25 p.m. and forced the closure of Hana Highway in the area for four hours.

Police said the Wrangler, driven by a 31-year-old woman from Cicero, Ill., Paia bound, was rear-ended while negotiating a left turn into the Twin Falls parking lot.

A male front-seat passenger in the Jeep, also from Cicero, was taken in critical condition to Maui Memorial Medical Center.

A Maui man, 29, driving the Pathfinder and four passengers — a man, two women and a 10-year-old boy — were also taken to Maui Memorial with injuries.
