Volunteer search for hiker resumes tomorrow

Advertiser Staff

Volunteers, including a group from the Navy, will resume searching the Waimalu Ditch Trail tomorrow for a 77-year-old male hiker from Australia who has been missing since Thursday.

Mabel Kekina, of the Hawaiian Trail & Mountain Club, said the pig hunter who met and talked with Jon Parsons on the trail Thursday participated in today's unsuccessful search effort. Six of Parsons' family members were among those who searched the narrow and hazardous trail today.

A group of Navy men went in and surveyed the area and plan to return tomorrow with rappelling gear to assist in the search effort.
