Oil spill forces closure of Halawa-bound H-3 lanes

Advertiser Staff

Police have closed the Pearl Harbor-bound lanes of the H-3 Freeway at the Kaneohe entrance due to an oil spill in the Harano Tunnel caused by an earlier traffic collision about 6:30 this morning.

Halawa-bound traffic on the H-3 is being diverted at the Kaneohe off-ramp and the on-ramp that leads from Likelike/Kahekili highways onto the H-3 west-bound lanes is also closed.

Motorists are being advised to use the Likelike or Pali highways instead of the H-3.

H-3 will be reopened after the oil spill has been removed, police said. A specific time was not available.
