Weather: Partly cloudy with isolated showers

Gentle trade winds will continue to blow through Friday, the National Weather Service said.

The trades will send a few showers over windward areas but will be weak enough to allow afternoon showers to form over leeward areas, forecasters said.

The winds will shift to lift and variable during the weekend. Land breezes will bring clear nights and mornings while daytime sea breezes will produce clouds and showers in the afternoons.

The upper atmosphere is expected to remain stable, keeping rainfall totals low.

Windward showers will resume next week as a high pressure area builds to the north of the islands and trade winds return over the state.

Here's a closer look at what to expect for the next few days:

Today: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind between 8 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: Isolated showers after noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind between 8 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: Isolated showers before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind between 5 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 85. East wind around 7 mph becoming south.

Saturday Night: Isolated showers before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 6 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
