Advertiser Staff

A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. tomorrow at Air Station Barbers Point in 'Ewa Beach for U.S. Coast Guard air crewmen who were aboard an HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter that crashed Sept. 4.

The service will be held in the hangar for three members who lost their lives in the accident and one crew member who remains missing at sea, a Coast Guard news release said.

The Coast Guard Commandant, Adm. Thad Allen, will attend from Washington, D.C., as will Vice Adm. David Pekoske, the commander of the Coast Guard's Pacific Area, the news release said.

Tentative plans have the flyover scheduled for approximately 10:45 a.m.

Honolulu Police Department officers will help with traffic control and logistics. Military, government and community partners invited to attend the ceremony are asked to plan accordingly in order to be seated no later than 9:45 a.m., the release said.

Those planning to attend should expect to arrive early given the number of vehicles accessing the base.
