Aliamanu man, 68, suspect in child sex assault

Police today arrested a 68-year-old Aliamanu man on suspicion of sexually assaulting a young girl.

The man was arrested at his Likini Street residence at 8:25 a.m. and booked on two counts each of first- and third-degree sex assault. The alleged sex assaults involving a girl, 4, occurred between June 22 and July 16.

Child Welfare Service notified police of the case on Aug. 19. Forensic interview of the victim confirmed multiple offenses, police said.

The suspect was uncharged but being held at the main police station cellblock tonight.
