'Sunset on the Beach' tonight in Windward Oahu

Advertiser Staff

Two special city-sponsored "Sunset on the Beach" events are continuing today in Laie and Kailua and include free outdoor movies and entertainment, vendors selling food, and much more. This is the first-ever "Sunset on the Beach" event in Laie, and the first such event in Kailua since 2002.

"I've always wanted to have a Sunset event in Laie, especially since the recent closure of the local movie theater there," said Mayor Mufi Hannemann. "I'm also very pleased to bring a Sunset event back to Kailua, so that residents won't have to drive to Waikiki to participate. The City is very happy to provide services that will make these events fun, safe and successful."

• "Laie Sunset at the Beach" details: at Kokololio (Kekela) Beach Park, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, featuring the movie "National Treasure II" at 7:15 p.m.

The drug- and alcohol-free event is being co-sponsored by the Koolauloa Community Health and Wellness Center and Turtle Bay Resort.

• "Rediscover Kailua Family Festival" details: at Kailua District Park from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m, featuring the movie "Game Plan" at 7:15 p.m.

Continues Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and features the movie "Enchanted" at approximately 7:15 p.m.

The "Rediscover Kailua Family Festival" is being co-sponsored by the Kailua Mustangs Pop Warner Association.
