A fugitive captured twice last week in Honolulu waived extradition and was taken back to Utah Friday night.

U.S. Marshal for Hawai'i Mark "Dutch" Hanohano today confirmed that fugitive Eric Ison Jones, 35, left Honolulu Friday night in the company of a marshal's deputy from Utah and another officer from that state.

Jones is wanted in Utah for allegedly abusing his son in November 2006. The boy, age 1 at the time, suffered third-degree burns over half his body due to the abuse.

Jones was arrested by the Marshals Service's Hawai'i Fugitive Task Force Wednesday at Pacific Marina hotel near Honolulu International Airport at 6 p.m. He was mistakenly released by state officers at the District Court cellblock Thursday after an appearance on a local misdemeanor warrant but recaptured by the Fugitive Task Force on Liliha Street in Nu'uanu about three hours later.
