Ballet Hawaii sets auditions for its 'Nutcracker'

Want to be a sugar plum fairy or a mice or am Arabian dancer in the Christmastime "Nutcracker" production?

Ballet Hawaii will hold auditions for a variety of roles on Saturday for its annual production of "Nutcracker" set for Dec. 19-21 at Blaisdell Concert Hall.

Tryouts — at Ballet Hawaii headquarters, on the second floor of Dole Cannery, 650 Iwilei St. — will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Ballet V, from 1 to 3 p.m. for Ballet VI and VII, from 3 to 4 p.m. for Ballet III and IV, from 4 to 5 p.m. for Ballet I and II, and 5 to 6 p.m. for pre-ballet. Dancers in Ballet VI/VII must bring pointe shoes.

The production will be directed by Pamela Taylor Tongg,

Auditions are open to all dancers in the community from age 6 to adult.
