Weather: Light trades with afternoon showers

Advertiser Staff

Lighter trade winds will allow the development of local sea breezes over leeward sections of the islands each afternoon from today through Saturday, the National Weather Service said.

The drop in trades will result in an increase in cloud cover and a chance of showers over the leeward and interior sections of most islands during the afternoon and early evening hours, forecasters said.

Expect slightly stronger trade winds to return by Sunday as a high pressure area builds to the north of O'ahu.

Here's a closer look at what's expected for the rest of the week:

Today: Sunny, with a high near 85. East wind around 11 mph.

Tonight: Clear, with a low around 74. East wind between 9 and 11 mph.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 86. Southeast wind between 8 and 10 mph.

Friday Night: Clear, with a low around 73. East wind around 11 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 86. East wind between 11 and 13 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 73. East wind between 9 and 11 mph.
