The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a $6.7 million grant to the City and County of Honolulu for construction of a bus transit center on Middle Street, it was announced today by U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye.

The Middle Street Intermodal Transit Center will serve as a transfer point for community-circular buses, limited-stop express buses, and connector buses. The center will be adjacent to the existing bus operations center.
