Kumu Kahua's "Da Mayah," a comedy by Lee Cataluna, has sold out its regular run, through Sept. 28, and four more performances, Oct. 2-5, have been added — but tickets are going fast.

The play, directed by R. Kevin Garcia Doyle, is a comedy about a local-style politico. Curtain time for the additional shows is 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets: $5 to $16. Reservations: 536-4441, www.kumukahua.org.

PARENTING WISDOM

INTRODUCE KIDS TO SIMPLE PLEASURES

A tip from "Practical Wisdom For Parents: Raising Self-Confident Children In The Preschool Years," by Nancy Schulman and Ellen Birnbaum (Vintage Books): Children do not require extravagance to be awed. Trips to the supermarket, fire station or library can be wonderful. Museums, in particular, can be fantasylands. But parents, be aware that a staircase or a water fountain may be more intriguing than the exhibits.

FINAL WORD

"I was in the desert in Africa blowing up cars. But that's what you get when you enter the lion's den to work with Ridley (Scott). The guy's a big-game hunter."
