Mayor Kim checks out of Queen's following heart attack

Big Island mayor Harry Kim was released from the Queen's Medical Center today following triple bypass surgery on Sunday.

Kim, 69, will stay in Honolulu "for a few more days before returning to Hilo," said managing director Dixie Kaetsu, who is acting mayor while Kim is recovering.

He is recuperating from the heart attack he suffered on Sept. 11 — following an earlier heart attack in August.

Kim also suffered a mild heart attack in May 2005.
