Ever wonder what happened to surfer Eddie Aikau when he swam out to help the capsized Hokule'a voyaging canoe? In "Eddie Wen' Go: The Story of the Upside-Down Canoe," author Marion Lyman-Mersereau imagines what sea creatures saw on that fateful day in March 1978 when Aikau went missing at sea.

Lyman-Mersereau was a crew member on that journey, as well as another in 1980.

Today, she has gathered together three other former Hokule'a crew members to read from her children's book at the Kahala sportswear store in the Nordstrom wing of Ala Moana Center. Joining the author are Mel Kinney, Ka'au McKenney and Tai Crouch.

The reading starts at 2 p.m.
