UConn beats Baylor for 4-0 start

Associated Press

EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — Donald Brown ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns and Connecticut held off Baylor, 31-28, last night for its second straight 4-0 start.

The game was billed as a showcase for Brown and Baylor freshman quarterback Robert Griffin, and neither disappointed.

Griffin threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another. He consistently scrambled his way out of trouble and drove the Bears (2-2) to the UConn 39 with under a minute to play before his fourth-down pass fell incomplete.

Brown had 112 yards on 22 carries in the first half, and finished with 34 carries overall.

UConn quarterback Tyler Lorenzen showed he also can run. Lorenzen carried the ball eight times for 73 yards and two touchdowns, including a 34-yard quarterback draw that gave the Huskies a 24-21 lead. He passed for 125 yards, but threw two interceptions.
