Woman, 84, rescued at Ka'ena Point

Firefighters, ocean safety workersl and police today were involved in the successful rescue of an 84-year-old woman at Ka'ena Point.

The woman had been reported missing, and Honolulu Fire Department rescue specialists were dispatched at 11:53 a.m. to the Mokuleia side of the point, near the lighthouse, to rescue her, fire Capt. Terry Seelig said. The woman, however, was found on the Keawalu Beach (Yokohama Bay) side of Ka'ena Point.

Two rescue specialists were dropped to her location by the fire department helicopter. They provided medical attention and prepared her to be flown to Emergency Medical Services workers at Keawalu at 12:50 p.m. The woman was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in fair condition, according to police.
