Boys & Girls Club opens Nänäkuli teen center

The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii has opened its free-standing teen center on the campus of Nanakuli High School.

The 3,350-square-foot facility is comprised of two module units. Inside, the center will have a lounge area equipped with a large-screen television, Internet access, telephones, a pool table and breakout rooms for gatherings and dance groups. The center is seeking community support for computers, foosball tables and other recreational equipment for the center.

The club, over three years, secured more than $700,000 from government agencies and foundations to buy and retrofit the units, as well as construct basketball and volleyball courts, and a parking lot that surround the Nanakuli Teen Center

The center is open for members of the club. Anyone 13 to 17 can join the club for $1 a year.

The Boys & Girls Club is a nonprofit dedicated to inspiring Hawai'i's youth to become responsible citizens.
