Members have access to these tickets, and memberships are also available to the public now; public ticket sales begin Friday.

A total of 150 films from 36 countries will be showcased in this year's festival.

Features from Australia, Canada, China, Guam, Hong Kong, Iran, Japan, Marshall Islands, Philippines, South Korea, Sweden, Syria, United Kingdom and the United States are on the agenda.

Among the movies:

  • "The Good, the Bad, the Weird," a Korean-style western directed by Kim Jee-Woon and starring Korean movie star Jung Woo-Sung, who will be attending the festival this year.

  • "Rain of the Children," a docu-drama by New Zealand's Vincent Ward.

This year's HIFF trailer was made by award-winning local filmmaker Gerard Elmore, and features Hawai'i film stars Jason Scott Lee and Kelly Hu. The trailer also features conductor Matt Catingub and vocalist Paula Fuga, who have re-imagined the Depeche Mode hit "Dreaming of Me."

General admission tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for students, senior citizens, children and military. Call 550-8457 or fax orders to 536-2707. To buy tickets online or see more details on films and the film schedule, go to www.hiff.org.
