Nanakuli Elementary awarded $400K fed grant

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Hawai'i Congresswoman Mazie K. Hirono announced in a news release that a $413,873 U.S. Department of Education grant for professional development programs and on-campus assistance has been awarded to Nanaikapono Elementary School in Nanakuli.

The money will primarily be used for the professional development of the school's teachers, in the form of workshops as well as advancement courses through the University of Hawai`i.

The grant also supports three on-campus staff positions that provide classroom and curriculum development support for the school's pre-K through the sixth-grade classes.

The money was provided through the U.S. Department of Education's Education of Native Hawaiians Program.
