The city will kick off a year-long project next month to rehabilitate Lusitana Street, from School Street to Pauoa Road.

The $3.7 million project includes reconstruction of the roadway; adjustment of utility manhole frames and covers; installation of pavement markings and vehicle loop detectors; reconstruction of existing concrete curbs and gutters; resetting existing rock curbs; reconstruction of concrete catch basins; installation of concrete curb ramps, grade adjustment curbs, concrete sidewalks, concrete bus stops, and concrete driveways; and installation of traffic signal systems and pedestrian push-buttons.

The contractor for the project is Grace Pacific Corp.

Work is set to start in early October.

Information on how the project will affect traffic was not immediately available.
