Weather: Clouds and a few showers expected today

A high pressure area north of the state will keep trade winds blowing at a moderate pace throughout the week, according to the National Weather Service forecast for Hawaii.

Moisture riding on the trades will provide showers mainly in windward and mauka areas.

Some of the showers may be briefly heavy, fore casters said.

Here's how the rest of the work week looks:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 83. East wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind between 11 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 83. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 73. East wind between 11 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
