Hilton to greet 2009 with The Bangles

By Wayne Harada

The Hilton Hawaiian Village will ring in the new year with a bangle. Well, three — The Bangles, the 1980s female popsters known for such hits as "Walk Like an Egyptian," "Manic Monday" and "Eternal Flame," will provide musical fireworks in the hotel's Coral Ballroom.

After a 15-year hiatus, original band members Susanna Hoffs, Debbie Peterson and Vicky Peterson reunited in 2003 with the release of "Doll Revolution," downsizing from a quartet. The Bangles will be the Hilton's main attraction in a New Year's Eve show starting at 9:30 p.m. Doors open at 9 p.m., with The Bangles taking the stage at 10:45 p.m., en route to the midnight countdown.

VIP tickets are $200, include one standard cocktail and one sparkling wine beverage during the concert. Reserved seats are $130 and $90.

Tickets go on sale Monday via the Honolulu Box Office; for phone reservations, call 55-8457 or go online at www.honoluluboxoffice.com.

Hawaii Pacific Entertainment and JP Productions are presenting the event.
