Hawai'i's Parker McLachlin is the new community ambassador for The Friends Club, which helps raise funds for the Sony Open in Hawai'i. His role will be to "strengthen the Club's charity fundraising profile and efforts" and enhance the impact of Friends of Hawai'i Charities, charity sponsor of Sony Open.

McLachlin is in the midst of his best year on the PGA Tour. He won the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open last month and is 68th on the money list, with nearly $1.3 million.

The Friends Club started in 2004 and has contributed about $275,000. Annual membership is around 150.

"I am honored to be part of The Friends Club," said McLachlin. "I shared my journey to the PGA Tour with the members two years ago at a Club event and found them to be the real deal."

More information about The Friends Club or volunteer opportunities at the 2009 Sony Open in Hawai'i is posted at www.friendsofhawaii.org.
