Viloria pounds out eight-round decision

Advertiser Staff

Waipahu boxer Brian Viloria's next bout will be for a world championship.

He warmed up for it last night with an eight-round unanimous decision over Mexico's Javier Lagos at the Sycuan Resort & Casino in El Cajon, Calif.

"Brian won every round, and pretty convincingly," said his manager, Gary Gittelsohn. "Lagos simply didn't want to engage with Brian, so it really was a one-sided decision."

Viloria improved to 23-2, including 4-0 in 2008.

Viloria will next face champion Ulises Solis of Mexico for the IBF light flyweight (108 pounds) world championship Dec. 13 at Macau, China.

Lagos dropped to 15-13-2. He also lost to Viloria in 2002.
